I don’t typically make New Year’s resolutions, but this year I’m trying it. Most of them focus around my photography:
- Get one of my photos published (anywhere, really)
- Truly turn the corner on being able to use the amazing camera I own to its full capacity
- Take a photo a day
- Continue to update my photo wall monthly
In the spirit of sharing, here are a few links to projects/tutorials/photographers that will be inspiring and helping me this year.
- The holy grail list of cool photography tutorials. If you can’t find some inspiration in this list, you might as well sell your camera and close your eyes for the rest of your life.
- Ultra long exposure photos (as in, 30 minutes or more!)
- Have a Nikon D90? Here’s a site for you to learn all about the features and functions: Ken Rockwell. He also has a series of how-to articles about photography generally
- Rick Nunn is a amazing photographer, and he shares his story of being “behind the lens”
- If you’ve seen the book “Bound for Glory“, the photos in this Library of Congress collection aren’t new to you. These photos are from 1939-1943 and rival most anything that you’ve seen taken since then. Truly amazing work.
- Lights, Camera, Capture: this iPad app/e-Book is amazingly helpful in learning photography. Buy it, love it.
- Contacts who’ve faved: A single use Web app that looks at your Flickr contacts and shows you what they’ve marked as “favorites” in the last few days. A good way to find great photos that don’t necessarily show up in the Flickr Explore list

Update: Wouldn’t you know it… I have all these lofty goals for my photography in 2011 and I find out that I have to send my camera into Nikon to get repaired. $^@%*#!
