I love live music. But in the past few years my hearing has taken a major beating for no explainable reason. Which means that the amount of live music I get to make it to has been drastically cut simply for hearing preservation. Wouldn’t it be great if I could figure out what new bands I’ll actually enjoy before heading out to a smoky club putting my remaining hearing at risk?
Podbop.org does exactly that. It’s an event schedule that attaches MP3s from the bands on the schedule so you know whether it’ll be worth your time. The site is pretty new, but well worth the time.
And if you’re going to be at SXSW this weekend (and if not, why the hell not??), you can download more than a 1000 songs from all the bands that will be playing. (You can also download a bunch of film trailers for the films at the festival part of the event) I’m still making my way through the 2005 songs on the iPod.
Great stuff. I love the Web.
