It’s the end of the year, therefore it’s retrospective time! This year was tough for a blog reader. There are more brilliant blogs now than ever before, and the quality continues to improve. Here’s my Top 10 for 2006, in no particular order!
- Guy Kawasaki – One of the smartest (and nicest) guys in business has one of the smartest blogs on the net. If you’re not reading, you now have no excuse.
- Jeremiah Owyang – It’s always fun to find other people with community management experience. Jeremiah is as sharp as they come, and his blog has been doing some great work lately around measuring social media.
- Creating Passionate Users – Kathy’s blog is likely to make many Top 10 lists, and with good reason. She really spends time with her entries, and I’ve found myself more than once repeating her conclusions to colleagues or clients as an easy way to explain something complex.
- TechCrunch – Yeah, I know, TechCrunch is hardly an "unknown" player in the blogosphere, but that’s the point isn’t it? Any site that has a voice this big is important to pay attention to. The fact that they have fantastic content is just an added bonus!
- Photojojo – Fun site that delivers daily photography tips, products, and information via blog andemail.
- Church of the Customer – My friends Ben and Jackie continue to have a great resource around what they call "citizen marketing".
- The Apple Blog & MacZot – Having made the switch to a Mac for work this year, I’m having fun discovering the fun apps, tools, and tips that make the Mac experience so much fun.
- Danah Boyd – Social community research makes for great reading…at least when Danah is writing it!
- Logic + Emotion – Smart, well-thought, detailed… and complete with great design.
- Battlefield Podcast – While this is a podcast, not a blog, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention it. I’ve all but stopped playing any game other than Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 this year. The Battlefield Podcast helps me keep up with all the news that’s fit to amateur broadcast.
